Technical Museum’s most popular exhibition “The Alphabet of Money” seen by 20,000 visitors
Zagreb,13 April 2016 - Nearly 20,000 children of all ages and their parents saw the educational and interactive exhibition “Abeceda novca”/“The Alphabet of Money” launched by Erste banka and Erste Group in cooperation with the Children’s Museum ZOOM from Vienna and the Children’s Museum FRida & freD from Graz since its opening in February 2015. “The Alphabet of Money” is also the exhibition with the highest number of visitors at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum in Zagreb, where it was prolonged several times and will be open by April 2017. The unique concept of the exhibition intrigued primary school students and the students of secondary schools of economics equally. The exhibition was seen by children from the Zagreb area and groups of children from other Croatian regions.
Designed as one big game, the exhibition “The Alphabet of Money” introduces visitors to topics such as financial literacy, history, function and value of money, savings, different forms of commerce, poverty and investments through 10 educational and interactive stations designed for children. The simple and interactive games teach visitors how to pan for gold, how to repay a loan, how to set product prices, what stocks are, and what fair trade is. This is the first exhibition of this type in Croatia. The same exhibition has already been held in Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania and Serbia, and has been seen by more than 150,000 visitors.
“The exhibition ‘The Alphabet of Money’, developed in cooperation with children’s museums from Graz and Vienna, is a very interesting and educational exhibition focused on the very important topic of financial literacy. The exhibition has added new modern, educational and interactive contents to the programme of the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum to the satisfaction of all generations of visitors, particularly children”, said Museum Director Markita Franulic.
“We at Erste banka and our colleagues at the Erste Group know how important financial literacy is from the earliest age, and that was how this initiative was born. The exhibition introduces children to the real world around them, and their comments show that the children have understood what the exhibition was about and had fun at the same time. Some of the children, for instance, learned that their parents could not go to an ATM to get as much cash as they needed, whenever they needed it, and other children learned where money is printed, what we keep in safes, and many other things. We are glad that many of the visitors saw the exhibition several times, and that parents and teachers recognised its importance too”, says Zdenko Matak, Member of the Board of Erste banka.
The exhibition “The Alphabet of Money” will stay open Tuesday to Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday to Sunday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm by April 2017 at the Technical Museum, Savska Cesta 18, Zagreb. A video of the exhibition is available at ABECEDA NOVCA_youtube.com.
