With the aim of supporting their efforts in containing the coronavirus epidemic, Erste Banka has donated HRK 100.000 to Bjelovar General Hospital, which will be used to purchase much needed equipment and medical materials, necessary for preventing the spread of the contagion and providing the patients with even better care.
„I am thankful to Erste Banka for its donation. It will be used to acquire medical equipment which will be used for prevention of the COVID-19 virus and the treatment of those infected by it. The Bank’s help to our institution will improve the medical services we provide to our patients, and improve the status of our medical system as a whole.“ said dr. Ali Allouch, director of the Bjelovar General Hospital.

„Erste Banka is a responsible member of this society and it has recognized the importance of combined efforts in fighting and containing the coronavirus epidemic, so this donation is a continuation of the Bank’s previous efforts. We hope that the purchase of medical equipment will help prevent the further spread of the disease and upgrade the treatment of those infected by it in our county. I would like to use this opportunity to thank all medical and support staff and all others involved in containing this epidemic for their hard work, because their efforts deserve the utmost respect“ said Zdenko Matak, Erste Banka Management Board member, when he awarded the donation. Since 2010, Erste Banka has donated around HRK 1,4m to Bjelovar General Hospital for various purposes.
Other than the donation mentioned above, the Bank supports other medical institutions in their efforts to contain the epidemic, individually, and in cooperation with associates. At the beginning of April, the Bank donated HRK 1m to Dr. Fran Mihaljević University Hospital for Infectious Diseases, and at the end of May, Dr. Andrija Štampar Teaching Institute for Public Health received a donation in the form of a PCR diagnostic system for the parallel detection of the novel coronavirus and other respiratory viruses, as well as iceboxes for storing samples. The donation is worth around HRK 500.000. Erste Card Club also came to aid - it donated HRK 300.000 to the Zagreb Children’s Hospital and HRK 50.000 to the Teaching Institute for Public Health, in order for them to purchase consumables. The total amount of donations to medical institutions for the purposes of containing the coronavirus epidemic and repairing the damage caused by the Zagreb earthquake reaches almost HRK 2m.
