Erste Bank brings Apple Pay to its clients - users of Visa debit cards issued for retail clients accounts. Apple Pay is a safer, more secure and practical way to pay and withdraw cash via an Apple device, without using the physical card.

When paying at a store or withdrawing cash from an ATM by using an iPhone or an Apple Watch, customers have to authenticate themselves with Face ID, Touch ID or a device passcode, and then activate the card used for the payment by double-clicking the shoulder button and then hold their device near a payment terminal or contactless reader at an ATM. Customers can also use online payments in apps or on the web, wherever Apple Pay is accepted as a payment method, without having to create accounts or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information, because the information was already set up when setting up the service for the first time.

Apple Pay is easy to set up. On an Apple device, simply open the Wallet app, tap + and follow the steps to add Erste Bank debit cards. Once a customer adds a card to iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac, they can start using Apple Pay on that device right away. It is important to note that using the service on an Apple Watch device requires previous activation of Apple Pay on an iPhone.

When customers use a debit card withApple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in a special chip designed to store the payment information safely on the device.

Apple Pay is accepted at all retail locations and ATMs that allow contactless payments, and on websites that allow Apple Pay.
